During this 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes and the Merzouga dunes, you’ll experience a different side of Morocco, encountering the culture of the Southeastern Berbers and Saharan nomads. The journey includes traversing the stunning High and Middle Atlas mountains, offering breathtaking panoramas. You’ll explore traditional Berber architecture in the kasbahs of Telouet, Ait Ben Haddou, and Amredil in Skoura, and visit Kelâa M’gouna in the Valley of Roses to discover renowned local cosmetics. The trip culminates with a camel ride in the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga, witnessing a unique sunset and spending an evening around a fire with Berber nomads.
At 7:00 AM, we depart from your hotel towards Ouarzazate, crossing the High Atlas Tizi n'Tichka pass at an altitude of 2260 meters. You'll witness contrasting landscapes as we descend and pass through several Berber villages. We'll stop for lunch and visit the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. After lunch, we continue our journey through the city of Ouarzazate with its beautiful kasbah and then head towards the Dades Valley and the Dades Gorges, passing through rocky deserts (Regs) and the Skoura Palmeraie, as well as the Valley of Roses.
Upon arriving in Dades, you will have dinner and spend the night at an authentic auberge. This provides an opportunity to relax and enjoy the unique ambiance of the Dades Valley after a day of exploration.
After breakfast, our 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes will take us a short distance to Tinghir and the Todgha Gorges, a remarkably different landscape. You will be captivated by the narrow entrance of the gorges that reveals the sky and the incredible cliffs, towering nearly 300 meters high. Following this, we will continue our journey towards the captivating sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, known as the Merzouga dunes. It's time to meet your camels. Embark on a camel ride through the dunes while witnessing the mesmerizing sunset. Your overnight stay will be in luxurious tents at Imperial Glory Lodges, where dinner and accommodation are provided.
You'll enjoy breakfast at the base of the Merzouga dunes. After a satisfying meal, your journey will take you northward to Rissani, the former capital of the Alawite sultans. Once you've explored its fascinating history, you'll cross the Ziz Valley and the Middle Atlas mountains, eventually reaching Ifrane. Is it true that Ifrane is often referred to as the "Switzerland of Morocco"? From Ifrane, you will continue your journey to Fes, arriving in the late afternoon. You'll settle into your riad and have dinner at the riad.
On the fourth day, your day begins with a delightful breakfast at your riad. Following this, you'll meet up with your guide to embark on an enchanting exploration of the historic Medina of Fes, where you'll delve into its traditional shops and vibrant culture. You'll savor a delectable lunch in the heart of the city while immersing yourself in the wonders of Fez with your knowledgeable guide. After a day filled with discovery, you'll return to your riad to relax and spend the night.
